    The north may seem rough to some, but it has charm. Hardly any other exhibition location brings this unique atmosphere to the point as the former iron foundry of Carlshütte, the first industrial company of the Duchies of Schleswig and Holstein.
    Founded in 1827 and closed in 1997, the Carlshütte located in Büdelsdorf is not only an impressive industrial monument, but also offers an unusual ambience for cultural events of all kinds with its huge hall aisles, the restored ACO carriage house and the spacious park area.
    NordArt, which has been taking place in the summer months since 1999, is one of the largest annual exhibitions of contemporary art in Europe. NordArt is a judged exhibition that is redesigned annually as a total work of art. It offers a comprehensive panorama of international contemporary art in a special ambience. More than 200 selected artists from all over the world show their pictures, photographs, videos, sculptures and installations that not only speak for themselves, but also develop new perspectives with and against each other in the interplay and against the unique backdrop of the Carlshütte and in the historical sculpture park.

      The extensive grounds in Rendsburg / Büdelsdorf in Schleswig-Holstein have served as supplies for Rendsburg Castle since the 14th century. With the founding of the Carlshütte iron foundry, the first industrial settlement of the duchies of Schleswig and Holstein took place here in 1827. After the final shutdown of the industrial company in 1997, the site with its huge foundry halls and the historic residential and commercial buildings were taken over by Hans-Julius Ahlmann, partner of the internationally active ACO Group.

      Since then, the work of art Carlshütte, with its various venues and presentation venues, has developed into a special place for exhibitions, concerts, readings, theater and film screenings.
