    In Ludwigsfelde-Struveshof, between Struveweg and Sputendorfer Weg, near the L794 are the historic buildings of the former Struveshof agricultural educational institution. This existed from 1913-1926. From 1926-1950 there was a rural education home here and a youth work center until 1960. Until 1990 the Central Institute for Teacher Training of the GDR was housed here.
    Today the State Institute for School and Media Berlin-Brandenburg is located in these buildings. The Struveshof has served the State of Brandenburg since 1991 and the State of Berlin since 2007 as a place for training teachers and school administrators.
    A free tour of the site is possible and recommended.

      The Gerhard Struve monument is located on the grounds of the Former Educational Institute Struveshof, today's State Institute for Schools and Media Berlin-Brandenburg, opposite the farm building, where today the canteen is located.         Around 1900 the Berlin city administration began to set up educational institutions for orphans and neglected children outside the city. In 1914, the construction of the Landerziehungsheim of the city of Berlin in Struveshof began. The home was inaugurated three years later. It was intended to house boys between the ages of 12 and 18 and was supposed to be self-sufficient through its own farm.
