The 'Barok' building is a building in Tuzla, located on Trg Slobode. It was built around 1900 in the Baroque style (hence its popular name - 'Barok'), and the reason for its construction was the announced visit of the Austro-Hungarian Crown Prince Franz Ferdinand to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Tuzla was among the planned places for the visit. The building was built according to an Austrian project on the then Appel Platz, today's Trg Slobode. The purpose of the building was to be the place where Franz Ferdinand would stay with his wife Sofija Chotek when he visited Tuzla. However, the planned visit did not take place. Due to weather influences and subsidence, the building deteriorated over the years and was demolished in 1983. 25 years after the demolition, the authorities decided to build a new building on the same site according to the old design. Thus, in 2009, a faithful replica of the old building was built. The current Trg Slobode was also renovated alongside the building.
