"... King Ludwig the German donated the Fronhof in Leutesdorf to the Herford Abbey in Westphalia in 868. It is the first written mention of Leutesdorf.
In his travel description "De navigio suo" from Metz to Andernach, Venantius Fortunatus describes the vineyards of Leutesdorf in AD 565. This is the first historical evidence of the existence of viticulture in the place.
The largest area of viticulture was between the 11th and 15th centuries. In the 12th century, the Abbey Maria Laach, Our Lady of Himmerod, called the Cistercian Abbey near Hachenburg / Ww. as well as the women's monastery St. Thomas zu Andernach vineyards in Leutesdorf "own."
In 1427, after the Hammerstein burgraves died out, their rule was combined with Leutesdorf to form an Electoral Trier office. In 1597 Leutesdorf is a member of the Linzer Union, an alliance of localities in the Middle Rhine region for mutual aid in the face of war.
During the Thirty Years' War the customs post, the architectural remnant of which is the customs gate, came to Leutesdorf.
In 1803 the Duke of Nassau-Usingen came into possession of Leutesdorf. Until he was replaced by Prussia in 1815, he squandered the secularized church property of Leutesdorf. Thereafter Leutesdorf belongs to the Prussian Rhine Province until the state of Rhineland-Palatinate succeeds it. ... "
