The Hinterhaus Castle ruins tower above Spitz an der Donau and date back to the 12th century. It once served as a defensive structure to secure the Danube Valley and today impresses with its mighty walls and Romanesque keep. The short climb is rewarded with a magnificent view over the vineyards and the Wachau Valley.
