Near the western Kreuztor (Cross Gate) stands the small church of St. Erhard,
where the chapel "St. Thomas in the Woods" is said to have stood as early as the 9th century.
The current building dates from the late 17th century.
A papal coat of arms above the portal and the small cupola are particularly striking.
Today the church is used by the Lutherans of Brixen.

St. Gotthard and St. Erhard is a Roman Catholic church of origin made available to the Evangelical Lutheran Church for services in the South Tyrolean town of Brixen, which is popularly known as the Church of Erhard. The Baroque building is located on Erhardgasse in the pedestrian zone of Brixen's old town, west of Domplein.
