The lime kiln of “Câmara dos Lobos”, located in Trincheira, was built in 1874 by Roque Teixeira de Agrela and in 1914 it was restored and adapted.
It was restored again in 1960 and was still in use until the 1970s. At this time it ceased operations because quicklime was already being introduced and many residents complained about the smoke and smell when operating the kiln.
The town hall acquired this area in 1983 to run an industry for drying “chocolate sharks” (Scymnus lichia) from the deep sea of Madeira.
