It was not without reason that King Ludwig I decided in 1843 to have a summer villa built in the Palatinate, which was then part of Bavaria and where his father Maximilian I came from. It was to be located on the edge of the Haardt mountain range. In 1845, the necessary land at the foot of the Rietburg was purchased from the communities of Edenkoben and Rhodt. A wonderful piece of land.

The Ludwigshöhe was the summer residence of the Bavarian King Ludwig I.

When we were there, the car-corso of a rally driver of the rally driver drove straight from the yard with infernal noise.

Nice view down to the vineyards and the Rhine plain. Today was something going on here - sunny and warm October day and the chestnut festival.
