It was not without reason that King Ludwig I decided in 1843 to have a summer villa built in the Palatinate, which was then part of Bavaria and where his father Maximilian I came from. It was to be located on the edge of the Haardt mountain range. In 1845, the necessary land at the foot of the Rietburg was purchased from the communities of Edenkoben and Rhodt. A wonderful piece of land.
