As a circular hiking trail, the Hinkelsteinweg connects the network of trails in the outskirts of the “Palatinate Forest” biosphere reserve with the Donnersberg hiking area and the “Pfälzer Höhenweg” hiking trail. The large menhir "Menhir" and a large number of historical boundary stones from the Otterberg monastery period are located along the route. The path leads past the edge of the “Mehlinger Heide” nature reserve, one of the largest heather areas in southern Germany. In addition to natural forest paths that invite you to dream, the path is characterized by impressive views and a varied landscape.
At the Drehenthalerhof (in both directions) it is possible to hike the Hinkelsteinweg in two stages (20 km and 23 km).
Below the Drehentahlerhof (in the direction of Otterberg), an old testimony to history, the "Scheidwald" quarry, was uncovered - very imposing - but also invites you to linger.
