Baden-Baden is a spa town in the Black Forest, which is located in southwest Germany not far from the border with France. In the 19th century, Baden-Baden developed into a fashionable spa town thanks to its thermal baths. The park-lined Lichtentaler Allee, the city's main promenade, runs along the Oos. The casino modeled on the Palace of Versailles also belongs to the spa complex, which was built in 1824. The drinking hall of the Kurhaus has a foyer adorned with frescoes and a mineral fountain
