Enjoy this 6.8-kilometer loop trail near Schwarzenbruck, Bavaria.
The route is generally classified as easy and can usually be completed in 1 hour 34 minutes.
Since the path is ideal for hiking, you are rarely alone and will also meet other adventurers during your trip.
The route is accessible all year round and is worth a visit at any time of the year.

The Bavarian King Ludwig I took up the idea of a connection between the Danube and the Rhine - which Charlemagne had already wanted to realize in 793 with the Fossa Carolina (near Treuchtlingen) - and left the Ludwig-Donau-Main between Bamberg and Kelheim in 1837-1846 -Build canal.
The ambitious construction project involves 100 locks, some in the Altmühl and Regnitz rivers, with a total height difference of 264 meters (80 m ascent from the Danube and 184 m descent to the Main). The successor to the canal, which was closed in 1950, is the Main-Danube Canal, built between 1960 and 1992.

We were there today. At the end of the circular hike, there's a huge beer garden. You could have stopped in at the beginning, but that's the bonus after completing the hike! There's also a parking lot at this beer garden, so you can start your walk right there :-)))))
