The village church was first mentioned in a document in 1398. On November 11th of this year, Lienhart Graswein donated the Schederer fiefdom in Going to the Andreaskirche in Kitzbühel, but with the condition that after the consecration of the church in Going this was valid beforehand, i.e. a financial one should be granted. It is therefore certain that at the time the documents were issued a church was being built in Going or at least one was planned. Over time, this Gothic church became too small or too unmodern, so that in 1723/1724 it was converted to the baroque style. During this conversion, the shear forces of the new lunette vault were incorrectly calculated. The result was that structural damage occurred after a relatively short time. They kept getting bigger, so it was decided to build a new building.
