The views on clear days are impressive, and the experience of climbing to the top and seeing the crater is indescribable.

To climb to the top of Teide you have to request permission online in advance, but not for the Pico Viejo viewpoint.

Take the cable car to the top and then to the summit in around 30 minutes. Breathtakingly beautiful! It is essential to register in advance via the Internet, only 300 people are allowed to the summit a day.

Appropriate clothing and sufficient water are essential. On the beach it was 30 degrees, at the summit only seven degrees! When the wind is around 50 km / h, you can cool down slightly, and the sun's intensity is extremely high. The air is also much scarcer - around 20 percent less oxygen, which you can already feel! A height of 3,718 meters is also not without ...

Since the wind had picked up, we were lucky to get down by train. As the last train of the day, we left at 1 p.m. After that, the runway was closed because of the wind. But since all hikers were registered with ID numbers, none of those who had registered stayed up. But whoever ascends in the hope of a descent should also take this risk of descent into account.

Teide summit: an absolute "must have done"! Hot air springs and sulphurous holes just below the summit. Great nature experiences are guaranteed.

A crazy view of the old caldera and the coast. The view to the summit makes one become humble towards nature. The way up are well developed, but always have walking shoes and rainproof clothing. At the driveway with the cable car was still sun, shortly thereafter clouds were there.

Or alternatively, the ascent from the car park on the road over the Montana Blanca, from there to the accommodation hut (reserve beforehand). In the evening enjoy the starry sky and without any permit the next morning on the Teide. You do not need a permit for the summit ascent before the first cable car.

For the summit trail from the mountain station you need a free permit, which you can apply for from the national park administration.
Alternatively, you can climb to the summit before 9:00 a.m., i.e. start very early (around 5 a.m.) or spend the night in Refugio Altavista.

I hiked this peak over two days and recorded the hike in three sections. This is the second recorded hike from the Altavista refuge to the summit of Mt Teide. This is a steep hike via the cable car station at a nice steady pace following the well marked and maintained trail. If you see the trail zig zagging a bit around the cable car station then that is because I had a bit of a wander around it. A great early morning hike with superb views from the summit.

We were lucky once when we took the first cable car and the station where the summit permits were checked was not occupied.

The way up past steaming sulfur holes and the view from the summit were great.

The tour to the summit requires a permit, which must be requested BEFORE. Is probably synonymous via the Internet. You should take the first cable car at 9:00 am to be in front of the other tourists. At the summit you can stay only 30 minutes. At the mountain station there are still 2 freely accessible paths which are also worth seeing.

The pyramid-shaped shadow of Mount Teides on the (cloud) sea at sunrise is worth the climb to the summit in the early morning hours. The "breathing of Teides", which "exhales" warm sulfur-smelling steam, is also very impressive. The Teide is not extinguished, it is just sleeping.
