The bridge over the Erfelden Old Rhine, built in 1978, now has a new name. At a ceremony at the Kühkopf gateway, Mayor Gerald Kummer unveiled a sign before approximately 150 guests, officially renaming the bridge the "Martin Roth Bridge."
In his address, Mayor Kummer outlined the political career of his predecessor, Martin Roth. From May 1952 to March 1960, Roth served as an honorary member of the Erfelden municipal council. After his election as mayor, he held this position for over sixteen years. Even after the Hessian regional reform and the merger to form the municipality of Riedstadt, Martin Roth continued to contribute his extensive experience to local politics. During the challenging transition of the five constituent villages to the unified municipality, he also served as an associate member of the Riedstadt municipal council from 1977 to 1981.

Naming the Kühkopf Bridge after him is intended to ensure that future generations remember his long-standing service.
In addition to the naming ceremony honoring the former mayor of Erfeld, the completion of the redesigned Old Rhine riverbank and the ferry landing for Guntersblum was also celebrated. The municipality invested a total of approximately €455,000 in the project – cost savings were achieved through in-house work by the municipal works department. Building the new ferry landing using an old wine barrel minimized costs, the mayor explained.
