The statue, created by local sculptor István Harmath, was unveiled in Rose Square on November 15, 2020, exactly 440 years after the birth of Gábor Bethlen, Prince of Transylvania from 1613 to 1629. During his reign, often referred to as the "Golden Age of Transylvania," he also sought control over Moldavia and Wallachia, seeking to unite the three principalities under the name Dacia.
