The small detour is rewarded with a great view towards Molveno and also to the other end of the lake. You have to search for the small steep path. For those interested in history there is also some information about the origin of the lake and its earlier use.

The fort originates from the Austrian fortifications erected during the Napoleonic wars and then renovated during the Great War. It could accommodate around 400 men and was equipped with 7 small caliber cannons.

Although the fortifications were erected by the Austrian army to repel the French army in the early 1800s, the forts are called "Napoleon". Evidently any other Austrian antagonist has been overshadowed by the high-sounding name of the great leader.
