Dresden's first bicycle road has now been created along the Kleinzschachwitzer Ufer. Between the junction of Meußlitzer Straße and the Elbe ferry Kleinzschachwitz, cyclists now have priority for 1.2km and set the pace.

Significance of bicycle roads:
All road users, regardless of the means of transport, must adhere to the maximum speed of 30 km / h. Cyclists on bicycle roads generally set the pace and should be specially protected. You are generally allowed to drive next to each other. However, children under eight years of age must also use the footpath here, if one is available. You can use it up to the age of ten. Motor vehicle drivers must be particularly careful on bicycle roads and adapt their speed to bicycle traffic. A bicycle road is released for motor vehicles by an additional sign. This ensures that every driver can reach his property.

Dresden is currently planning further bicycle roads in the secondary road network. One of them is the cycle priority route east between Straßburger Platz and the Tolkewitz school campus. Work on this approximately five-kilometer route has already started. The section between Fetscherstraße and Altenberger Straße should be drivable by the end of summer 2022.
