The history of the Gamig manor can be traced back to the 15th century. However, it was probably built much earlier by the burgraves of Dohna as an outpost to protect the region. Today it is a rehabilitation and meeting place for mentally ill people.
A carefully restored estate and listed historical monument, consisting of a castle dating from 1575 with a small restaurant (open Wednesday to Sunday), a residential tower and small park, a chapel oriented north-south, a restored Renaissance house, a farm shop (open every Thursday from noon), a residential building for people with chronic mental illness, and outbuildings and workshops for people with disabilities (woodworking, textiles, ceramics, organic farming, animal husbandry, and vegetable cultivation).
The estate may have originated as a border fortification of Dohna, which was first documented in 1040, during the German settlement of the area.
