                          For several centuries, travelers have been ferried across the Neckar River between Neckarhausen and Ladenburg. In 1745, Elector Karl Theodore reorganized the ferry's feudal status in a hereditary lease agreement. Today, it is privately owned by a ferry association comprised of descendants of the former feudal owners.
