A portrait of Countess Emilia Pliaterytė, a hero of the 1831 uprising, is painted on a building on Tilžės Street. The rebels led by E. Pliaterytė, known as the Lithuanian Joan of Arc, participated in the battle for Šiauliai against the Russian Empire.
