The summit of the ancient road from Lumphanan to Coull and site of a Pictish settlement. A fantastic climb (and even better descent!) from both directions with great views.
The dark side is that several local women were accused of dancing with the devil here in the 1597 Lumphanan witch trials. Four persecuted women were burnt at the stake on a hill to the south.
Warning - the public right of way through Lochmanse Farm at the bottom of the descent to the west is in poor repair. Worth avoiding when wet. Sometimes blocked with cattle.
