The Friedrich-August Hut (Rifugio Friedrich August) is a private mountain refuge south of the Sassolungo. The hut can be reached from the Sella Pass in about 40 minutes.

From the Friedrich-August Hut, the Friedrich-August Trail leads to the Sassopiatto Hut in 1.5 hours. From the Sassopiatto Hut, the middle summit of the Sassolungo (2,958 m) can be reached via the normal route in 2 hours.
