The bike path on the road south is very good.
I recommend a visit to the Botanical Gardens. Allow at least a couple of hours, better a full morning or afternoon. The Gardens are mostly laid out by geographical region with each bit featuring flora local to that region. There are decent Cafe's and toilets. There is one entrance on Unter den Eichen (this location) and another at the intersection of Königin-Luise Strasse and Altensteinstrasse.
