The Marie-Thérèse Bridge that spans the Lesse between Maissin and Transinne (Belgium), a few kilometers north of Maissin, dates from the 17th century. Roman in appearance and consisting of four arches of unequal height, made of schist rubble. It was built during the reign of Empress Maria Theresa of Austria, who, according to a dubious local tradition, had it built after an accident she had while crossing the Lesse on horseback.

The bridge was built to facilitate the crossing of the Haute-Lesse via an important communication route between Bouillon (former Duchy) and Liège. The old road axis (national road 899) today runs west of the Marie-Thérèse bridge and crosses the Lesse a little further north. The bridge, an extension of the Marie-Thérèse road (in Maissin), is today part of the municipal roads.

The Marie-Thérèse Bridge was classified in 1989 and is on the list of real estate heritage in Wallonia.
