The Vida Lock is Hoyer's new lock, built in 1981. It consists of three concrete chambers, each with two wooden lock gates. Several metal steps lead to the observation deck of the small lock tower. Everything is freely accessible; there is a parking lot, public restrooms, and a small restaurant.
This lock is located at the mouth of the Vida River, the largest inland river in southern Denmark. Together with the dike system, it protects approximately 12,000 hectares of land in the Tönder Marsh and its inhabitants from flooding.
