Zernez is a picturesque village in the Engadine, known as the gateway to the Swiss National Park. Its strategic location, at the crossroads of the roads to the Ofen and Flüela Passes, makes it an ideal starting point for exploring the surrounding pristine nature.

The village itself is charming, with its Engadine-style houses, sgraffito paintings, and the baroque Church of St. Maurice. The Park House, with its visitor center, is a must-see for anyone interested in learning about the area's flora and fauna.

Zernez is a village in the Engiadina Bassa/Val Müstair region. Zernez was first mentioned in documents in 1161 as Sarnetz. After a major fire on September 5, 1872, which left only 40 of 157 houses undamaged, part of the village was rebuilt in the urban style and with flat roofs, which are otherwise untypical for the Engadin. During the Second World War, the Ova Spin and Crastatscha checkpoints were built in the area around Zernez.
