The Kurhaus in Heiligendamm is now part of the luxury hotel “Grand Hotel Heiligendamm”. Inside there is a restaurant where star chef Ronny Siewert creates his menus. The hotel complex is nicely arranged and you can take a coffee break on the terrace. Heiligendamm and the hotel became known worldwide through the G8 summit in 2007.

Heiligendamm is the oldest seaside resort in Germany, it was founded in 1793. The once splendid villas of the so-called pearl necklace are lined up along the promenade. Little by little the houses are being restored. You can read more about the history of the “white city by the sea” here: heiligendamm.info.

After many years of reconstruction, the historic building complex was opened in 2003 as the Grand Hotel Heiligendamm, heralding the renaissance of Germany's oldest seaside resort, which was granted the status of a seaside spa one year later. In 2007, the leaders of the major nations met at the so-called G8 summit in the White City by the sea and took in the frame of a group photo in an oversized beach chair, which is set up for the tenth anniversary for a few weeks, so that the guests of the Grand hotels can feel in themselves as state guests.
