Het Voorste Goorven is one of the most picturesque fens in the Oisterwijk Forests and Fens. This expansive nature reserve was created during the last Ice Age, when meltwater and drifting sand formed deep depressions that later became stagnant. Nestled among ancient coniferous forests, deciduous trees, and open heathlands, the fen provides a habitat for dragonflies, frogs, and countless bird species.

While walking around the fen, the views are ever-changing: clouds reflected in the water, tall pines at the edges, and open heathlands that turn purple, especially in summer. The atmosphere is quiet and serene, giving you the feeling of truly escaping the hustle and bustle.

Het Voorste Goorven is not only a beautiful nature reserve but also an important part of the Brabant landscape with a long history of peat extraction, logging, and heathland restoration. Today, the area is managed by Natuurmonumenten (Dutch Society for Nature Conservation) and is known as one of the most beautiful hiking spots in Brabant.
