Several older trees can be found in Herten Castle Park. The Kobushi Magnolia (Magnolia kobus) is impressive, blooming magnificently at the end of March. A catalpa tree (Catalpa bignonioides) collapsed decades ago but still survives. Mighty plane trees and giant sequoias are also part of the castle park. In March and April, the daffodils can be admired in bloom in the daffodil meadow north of the castle.
A very beautiful old moated castle/fortress in a brick style. The adjoining park is very large, and you'll always find plenty of shade and quiet spots to unwind. For families with children, there are not only play areas but also plenty of space to run around, as the lawns are open to the public.
