Nordstern heap

This large viewing pyramid rises in the middle of the Nordsternpark, offering a good overview of the park, the Hercules on the winding tower and the pumping station on the Emscher. Breathlessly one climbs over the lawn-covered embankment to find at the top that two stairs would have led to the pyramid at the back as well. The small, stone-framed viewing platform is well received, because here the view extends over the park and the trees and houses. To the right of the Herkules rises Halde Rungenberg with the conspicuous pyramid halves on the horizon, to the left of it Halde Oberscholven with the two large wind turbines and the coal-fired power station tries to hide behind the red headframe.
