At this viewing platform you will not only receive the Harz hiking pin number 20, but also the first reward for the climb from Elend: a fantastic view. The steep climb beforehand should be tackled with good footwear in bad weather. The view then stretches across the Elend valley to Elend.

The 695m high Barenberg, or Barenkopf called, offers you a good view over the Elendstal to misery and the Hohnenklippen after Hohnekamm. You can also see direction Schierke. Since the ascent is only possible via hiking and forest trails, you are guaranteed peace here. If you come from the observation pulpit, the path leads from here on to the snoring cliffs.
