The Basilica of Saint Michel is part of the Way of St. James and is visible from almost anywhere in Bordeaux. Tourists are particularly drawn to the magnificent view of the old town from its freestanding bell tower.
Bordeaux's Catholic center and seat of the archbishop, a stop on the Way of St. James for pilgrims and thus a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and for tourists, arguably the most magnificent panoramic view of Bordeaux's old town – this is how the Basilica of Saint Michel, visible from afar, presents itself at the famous Pont de Pierre.

It belongs to the Archdiocese of Bordeaux and is dedicated to the Archangel Michael.
