Stutfield Glacier is one of the principal toes at the northern end of the Columbia Icefield. The glacier is visible from the Icefields Parkway across the Sunwapta River - at Km 139 (direction Lake Louise to Jasper).
At the viewpoint you can see a good example of a branched river plain, a valley floor filled with sand and gravel, over which a river stretches in winding channels. On the other side of the river stretches an alluvial fan made up of rock remnants of the Stutfield Glacier. Along the mountain edges you can see parts of the Columbia Icefield.
