Many people expect a tower of similar dimensions to Big Ben and are then surprised to see the low height of the building. Although if there is one thing that is undeniable, it is that few images of our city are as striking as the view of this building next to the banks of the Guadalquivir, with the Maestranza and the Giralda behind it. You get excited every time you see it at night from the San Telmo Bridge. Its height is 36 metres, it is a watchtower, that is, it was part of a fortified enclosure, with which it was connected. Its main function was to defend the city.
It is said that its name is due to the golden glow that the tower reflected on the river.
