The name Velmerstot is made up of Velmer and Stot. Documented in the 11th century, the place in the western longitudinal valley was called Druheim, later Droheim, and belonged to the Hardehausen monastery. The fields to "Drohme", "Field to Drome" or "Veld to Drome" are documented several times. In the Middle Ages, the name went over to the Feldrom - Veldrom settlement as a place name. The upstream Eggeberg was the Feldrom-stot (Stot = steep slope) Velmerstot = the Veldrom shock The term Velmerstot came from this contraction between Veldrom and stot.
