Before dark, people come from all over to see this spectacle as millions of bats emerge from their cave. A mega experience. Just down the road from the Killing Caves of Phnom Sampeau, visitors gather at sunset to watch an incredible natural spectacle: the nightly exodus of a gigantic colony of hungry wrinkle-lipped free-tailed bats.
Most spectators gather at the roadside bars and stalls where food and drinks (and admission) are available. However, those seeking a more intimate experience can have a local guide lead the way up the hidden path to the cave entrance.
It is a fascinating experience to stand so close to the cloud of flying creatures zooming out of the cave. The bats do nothing. This spectacle lasts for over 20 minutes.
