Hidden in the heart of the forest is a mysterious place that could easily be overlooked: the Fairy Cave. In the warm summer months it offers a cool refuge from the heat. A shady place where you can hear the silence of the forest and the gentle lapping of the water.

Although it is a fascinating destination for many hikers, the Fairy Cave is not well signposted. But with a careful eye you will find them. Directly at the bridge, an inconspicuous sign on the tree shows the way: up the slope to the right, deep into the forest. Even from below, the cave gives a foretaste of its wonders and tempts you with a promising view.

In winter the cave transforms into a true winter wonderland. Ice stalagmites and stalactites decorate the interior and sparkle in the light of the candles and tea lights brought along. Photographers flock to capture this magical sight as the fire from the candles bathes the icy formations in a soft, warm light, giving the cave a fairytale feel.

The path to the cave isn't signposted. You have to cross the Kirnitzsch stream and then climb up the clearly visible path. The cave itself is reached via a small ladder. It's not particularly large, so you don't need a flashlight.
