⛰️On the Stockert, a mountain near Bad Münstereifel🧭, stands the first freely movable radio telescope in Germany🇩🇪:
📡The Astropeiler📡.
The facility was built in 1956. Today it is equipped with modern technology.
The NRW Foundation has owned this facility since 2005.
A lot of knowledge from the Astropeiler went into the construction of the radio telescope📡 in Effelsberg🧭, and after it was put into operation in 1972, research slowly began to migrate there.
The radio astronomy facility is now run purely on a voluntary basis.

From May to October, guided tours of the facility, which was built in 1956, are offered every Sunday at 2 p.m. Enthusiastic volunteers from the Astropeiler Association explain equipment and demonstrate radio astronomical measurements.
There is also coffee and biscuits.
