The monastery church of Sint-Franciscus Solanus, oriented northeast-southwest, forms the corner building of the Minderbroedersstraat; the front facade is part of the street wall.

Of the buildings that extend around the first monastery building, only the ground floor was preserved after the bombing of 1940, more specifically the original cloister. Brick buildings of seven bays each and now two to three storeys under pseudo-mansard roofs with stepped dormers and dormers. The wrought iron wall anchors of the ground floor are original. The cloister has wide pointed arch windows with a quarter-hollow profile; frame of alternating a marlstone block and several layers of brick; relieving arch of a flat layer. The upper floors were built in eclectic style after 1940.

The buildings of the second monastery building are largely recent: facade stones with different dates - 1836, 1907, 1932 - refer to the various adjustments.

The 18th century monastery church, together with the remaining monastery buildings, the monastery garden and the city wall, is protected as a cityscape.
Since April 2019, the church and the garden have no longer been open to the public. The monks have also moved out of the monastery.
