The church building, built in 1770 in the Rococo style, is now only used as a mortuary. It served as the village church of Pfändhausen, which originally belonged to the parish of Rannungen. The church was replaced in 1967 by the Holy Cross Church, built in 1965–1966. The church today consists only of the nave with a curved gable in the west and the eastern choir. Originally there was also a church tower, which has since been demolished. The altars date from the time of construction.
