The Prussian provincial government set up the first rescue station in Zingst in 1857, which was taken over by the DGzRS in 1867. The company regularly equipped the station with new rowing lifeboats. After the end of the Second World War, the GDR's sea rescue service took over the station and procured a rigid inflatable boat before the fall of the Berlin Wall. Under the direction of the DGzRS, the station received the 7-meter Boddenboot Zander.[1]

In the immediate vicinity of the pier in Zingst, on Strandstraße, the old rescue shed built in 1873 still stands, in which a collection of historical rescue equipment from the station's history is now on display. The new station building with the car hall to house the rescue team was built in 1999 on Müggenburger Weg, very close by. [Source: Wikipedia]
