The village of Echten is not just a village: part of it is a protected village view. And that is not surprising, because the village consists of a number of very old houses and farms and there is a sod hut. The first records of Echten date from 1181.

In this province, we are happy when we walked here for many kilometers.

In the early nineteenth century, Drenthe still largely an isolated region. The wasteland that however much of the province still covered slowly but surely developed.
