Former Walser lifeline as a scenic jewel

The view is already uplifting, from this saddle over which the Walsers moved to their northernmost colonies and which, as the European watershed, determines the direction of the waters. While the Bregenzerach meanders through the picturesque high valley to the northwest - towards the Rhine, the North Sea, the Gaisbach digs its ravine to the southeast - towards the Lech, the Black Sea. As splendid as the natural backdrop is, from the nearby wetland biotope to the Table Mountain, the significance of the mountain portal in days gone by is just as grandiose. At the junction of the Tannberg - the most beautiful bridge between the Walsers on both sides - hordes of cattle, shepherds, traders, pilgrims and pioneers traveled along the "old horse road" (1422). Where could one follow in Walser footsteps more harmoniously than over this "historical apex"?
