The Château de Benge, located in Collonges-la-Rouge, is a French historical monument that bears witness to Renaissance and modern architecture. This castle is distinguished by its main building with a 16th-century turret and a 17th- or 18th-century wing covered with a Mansard roof. It also has remains of corbels from old machicolations, recalling its defensive past. Listed as a historical monument, the Château de Benge is a characteristic example of stately homes that had to ensure their security through defensive works. Its pepperpot tower is adorned with a graceful Renaissance window, and it is mentioned that the lords of Benge reigned over the famous Collonges vineyard, until its destruction by phylloxera. Today, this castle is part of the region's rich heritage and contributes to the history and culture of New Aquitaine.
