Kurt Tichy and his wife Marianne founded their first ice cream parlor in 1952 in a basement restaurant in Vienna-Simmering and sold their products in the allotment gardens. In 1955, Kurt Tichy moved to his home district of Favoriten and founded the Tichy ice cream parlor on Reumannplatz, which still exists today.
