The Gate of the Keep in Monforte de Lemos is not a stand-alone gate, but rather forms part of the elevated access to the Keep, the most emblematic element of the Castle of San Vicente.
The tower and its gate were damaged during the Great Irmandiña War (1467–1469), but were later rebuilt. Today, it is one of the finest examples of medieval military architecture in Galicia.
