The Altmark Museum is a local history museum. It presents the history of the Altmark and is located in the buildings of the former St. Catherine's Monastery.
The museum is open Tuesday - Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. & 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The very beautiful bronze figure "Roland 1525" has been standing in front of the museum since 2022.

The "Schadewachten" district features several late Gothic brick buildings. The former St. Catherine's Monastery, dating back to the 15th century, now houses the Altmark Museum.
It has been located in the former monastery since 1963. The museum was founded in 1888 by Stendal citizens, including Dr. Fr. Haacke, to showcase historical artifacts, art, and culture of the city and the Altmark region in various exhibitions.
Today, the museum features a constantly changing selection of special exhibitions.
