The gate tower is the symbol of Allersberg. In the past centuries, the tower not only had a protective function, it was also home to the first school in Allersberg, because the towers were at the same time school masters, musicians, wedding loaders and bitters, mesners and night watchmen.

The gate tower was a homeless shelter, the place where the fire trucks were kept, the home of the public market scales and notorious as "Allersberger Loch", the place of detention for "dark figures".

The gate tower was completely renovated in 2016 and is used by the market town and the cultural and beautification association for receptions, exhibitions and cabaret events.

The gate tower was built from 1323, it contains the last remnants of the medieval fortifications, called "Lower Gate", it was the first schoolhouse, former detention center and shelter for the homeless.
