The hotel was built as a spa hotel on behalf of the N.V. Maatschappij to operate a rest and convalescent home. The well-known architect Pierre Cuypers designed the chalet style in 1890, which was largely implemented. The building is made of marl, with bluestone and wooden details. The building with beautiful views was projected on the wooded slopes along the Oud-Valkenburgerweg. The tourists who visited Valkenburg in those days were wealthy and usually stayed for a longer period. That is why they made their demands. The original hotel therefore consisted of 50 spacious guest rooms with lounges, steam baths, an elevator, balconies, a spacious dining room, reading room, music room, conversation room and its own electricity supply. The large park contained sports fields and a kiosk for musical performances.

The Parkhotel Valkenburg is a stately hotel with a rich history, designed by architect Pierre Cuypers. Situated on a hillside just outside the town center, it offers views of the Geuldal valley and the surrounding countryside.
