"THE CHURCH WAS BUILT IN 1764 BUT 13 YEARS LATER FALLED DOWN IN A HUGE FIRE.

This also destroyed 47 houses and the school building. After the immediate reconstruction, the evangelical church was reestablished between 1781 and 1795. The Romanesque west tower dates from around 1167. It received its baroque slate dome in 1795. The Romanesque nave was demolished in 1764 and - as mentioned above - rebuilt. The interior of the church was furnished in the late baroque and rococo style in the Bergian style in such a way that the altar, pulpit and organ were built one on top of the other. The baroque style is characterized by the many rounded lines, the joy of color and the diverse decoration. The rococo style can be recognized by the roses, rosettes and putti on the organ. The altar and pulpit date from 1781.

The organ was built by two master organ builders, Johann Christian and Johann Gerhard Klein from Freckhausen, a small town in today's Reichshof area. It is the largest baroque organ in the North Rhine region that is still completely intact and can be played. After the nave was restored, the congregation obtained a cost estimate in 1782. However, another 10 years passed before she was able to raise the necessary 1,700 Reichstaler. The organ was handed over to the parish on July 24, 1785. It consists of the Hauptwerk and the Positive and the Pedal behind it (32 registers). The instrument was spared from being demolished after the Second World War because Eckenhagen, unlike the neighboring communities, could not afford a new organ. From 1955 - 1959 the organ was restored.

On the left wall behind the altar there is a wooden commemorative plaque for the "Beierer". Each has a bell with their name on it. The commemorative plaque was only made in 1983 by Mr. H. Ulber from Sinspert. The tapestries on the church walls come from the Denklinger hand weaving mill Wagner, where woven items are made according to old tradition. The church with around 600 seats is the largest evangelical village church in the Rhineland. It is under monument protection. It is also worth mentioning that after the Reformation carried out by Johann Lang in 1569, services were also held by both denominations."
